CAMARGO, IL. (2-13-11) By Brian Liskai– The 2011 season will truly be historic for the O’Reilly Auto Parts All Star Circuit of Champions. “America’s Series” since the 1970s, the All Stars will compete in over 50 events in three distinct, yet connected regional point systems.
“I think you will see many different drivers at our events and when the All Stars come to your track you will see the best sprint car racers that are in the area,” said Guy Webb of All Star Championship Racing. “We’ve added some new tracks to the mix which always creates excitement for not only the new fans but the race teams as well.”
The O’Reilly Auto Parts All Stars will have three separate point funds – the Eastern Region, which will pay the point winner $20,000; the Ohio Region, which will also pay a $20,000 to win point fund; and the Great Plains Region which will pay the $10,000 to win the points. There will also be $25,000 available to the teams that compete at every All Star sanctioned event.
The 2011 All Star schedule contains several $10,000 to win events and even at $12,000 to win race at Red River Valley Speedway in Fargo, N.D.
The All Star’s northern season kicks off on Friday and Saturday, April 8-9 at Attica Raceway Park for the traditional HD Supply Spring Nationals.
Race fans are already making plans to attend the 29th Annual Ohio Sprint Speedweek, June 17-25. Speedweek kicks off Friday, June 17 at Attica Raceway Park, then travels south to KC Raceway near Chillicothe, on to Millstream Speedway on Sunday then to the bullring of Waynesfield Raceway Park on Monday and the first of two stops at Fremont Speedway on Tuesday. From there the racers will travel to the historic Sharon Speedway on Wednesday. Limaland Motorsports Park will host the traditional Friday event. Speedweek will wrap up with a $10,000 to win bash at Fremont Speedway on Saturday, June 25.
While the Eastern Region of the series began with the races in Georgia and Florida, the next events will be at the historic Williams Grove Speedway in Mechanicsburg, Pa. and Port Royal Speedway in Port Royal, Pa. on Friday and Saturday April 29-30.
The Great Plains Region will feature more dates including the Front Row Challenge at Southern Iowa Speedway in Oskaloosa, Iowa on Monday, Aug. 8. Also the $12,000 to win event on Wednesday, Aug. 3 at Red River Valley Speedway.
“The ‘Thunder Through the Plains’ has really grown and with the $10,000 to win point fund, I think we will see quite a few teams participate,” said Webb. “Our goal was to work with the promoters to help grow 410 sprint car racing in that region and we will accomplish that with more events that pay darn good money.”
Other highlights will be a pair of two-day events to highlight the 60th Anniversary of Fremont Speedway – Memorial Day weekend, Saturday and Sunday, May 29-30, and the Jim Ford Classic Friday and Saturday, Sept. 16-17, and once again a trip up north with four dates in Canada – July 4 at Autodrome Granby in Granby, Quebec; Autodrome Drummond in Drummond, Quebec on July 5; Tuesday, July 26 at Estevan Motor Speedway in Estevan, SK, just over the border from North Dakota, and Thursday, July 28 at Red River Co-Op Speedway in Winnipeg, MB.
The All Stars will wrap up their Ohio Region of the schedule on Saturday, Oct. 1 at Tony Stewart’s Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio. The series then will then travel on Nov. 2 to Screven Motor Speedway for a $10,000 to win makeup feature, and another $3,000 to win race will be on the line as part of the Eastern Region to conclude the 2011 season.
