All Star Late Model Series to kick off season with double-header weekend

CAMARGO, IL (4-25-11) By Brian Liskai – The O’Reilly Auto Parts All Star
Late Model Series will kick off its 2011 series with a big double-header
weekend of racing Friday and Saturday, April 29 and 30.

Drivers will face off with a big field of cars and stars at the “Showdown
in Savertown” at Lernerville Speedway on Friday.

With several rain-outs throughout the Ohio, Pennsylvania, West Virginia
area already this year, many late model teams are chomping at the bit to
race. And with the Showdown in Savertown paying $5,000 to win, there should
be no shortage of race teams.

The last time the All Stars invaded “The Action Track”  – Sept. 3, 2010 –
Shane Clanton took home the win over two-time World of Outlaws champion
Josh Richards, Steve Francis, Chub Frank and Clint Smith. All Star regulars
Jared Miley, Gregg Satterlee, Greg Oaks, Blair and Doug Eck rounded out the
top 10.

Admission for the April 29 Showdown in Savertown is $20 for adults, $18 for
seniors; $15 for students (11-17) and kids 10 and under get in free. Pit
passes are $25 for DIRTcar members and $35 for non-members.

Gates will open at 5 p.m. with hot laps set for 7 p.m. followed by
qualifications. The DIRTcar Pro Late Models and UMP Modifieds are also on
the Showdown in Sarvertown card.

The All Star teams then head to the high-banks of KC Raceway in
Chillicothe, Ohio on Saturday, April 30, for the $4,000-to-win Dirt Track
World Cup Classic. It’s the first of three appearances of the O’Reilly Auto
Parts
All Star Late Models at KC Raceway in 2011.

KC Raceway always hosts a huge field of late models, as the track runs the
division weekly with some of the most talented drivers in the region. The
last time the All Stars visited the tough 3/8ths mile track in October
2010, 59 teams signed in to compete in the “Topless Trick Or Treat 50.”
Former KC Raceway champion Jason Montgomery took home the feature win over
Steve Casebolt, Jason Feger, Darrell Lanigan and Steve Francis.

Besides the All Star regulars, look for KC’s tough weekly teams like 2010
champion Delmas Conley, Greggie Oliver, Audie Swartz, Mark Frazier, R.J.
Conley, Rod Conley and more from throughout the region.

Joining the All Star Late Models will be the O’Reilly Auto Parts Midwest
All Star Sprints and Hobby Stocks. The total purse for all the divisions is
a hefty $50,000.

General admission is $20 for adults with kids 6-12 $10. Pit passes will be
$30.
